Laboratory Inspections

All undergraduate, EDT and research labs affiliated with the SoE are inspected annually. The inspection involves going through a routinely revised and updated inspection form that ensures all required laboratory safety documentation, emergency resources, equipment and operating procedures are at least at a level acceptable of WorksafeBC standards. Results from these inspections are summarized and sent to the respective laboratory supervisors to amend any deficiencies found. Records of these inspections are kept online in K drive for review and liability purposes. Additionally, to incentivize research laboratory supervisors to maintain their laboratories, the results of these inspections are incorporated in the PSA & Merit process yearly.
