The shared EDT space in EME 0211 currently houses the majority of the project work of the Aerospace, Marine Robotics, GNTCR and Motorsports EDTs. The EDTs operate and train their team members autonomously, with some oversight by the SoE. As the EDTs operate within the SoE, and to enhance their skills development, the EDTs are required to keep documentation identical to that of research groups, summarized in the Laboratory Safety Guidebook section of the SoE safety webpage.
In addition to supporting the EDTs with space, the teams can apply for funding support via the Professional Activities Fund. Applications that are to fund design-based projects require a risk assessment that is then reviewed to ensure the projects are being completed safely with minimal risk.
