For liquid or solid hazardous waste that is not considered biological or other subcategories listed below.
- Fill out a waste tag for each waste item: chemical waste tag
- Start with largest component first writing full name of chemical
- Indicate % composition (not Molar concentrations)
- eg. 80% methanol, 15% water, 5% ethanol with traces of gold (must add up to 100%)
- Place each waste tag on each waste item.
- Submit waste request through the Hazardous Waste Inventory System. Inputs in the waste system must match the waste tags or waste may not be picked up.
Things to remember:
- Ensure all waste is properly labeled. For heavily mixed liquid waste, there are labels that can help keep track of final waste composition and help prevent incompatibility mixing.
- Indicate room and location of pickup in waste inventory system
