The Structures Lab located in EME 0256 is a 580 m2 facility consisting of research and undergraduate teaching space. A 6 m x 20 m reaction floor allows for comprehensive structural and materials testing in seismic design, timber, green concrete, retrofitting and structural rehabilitation. The lab also includes destructive and nondestructive testing equipment.
Due to the hazards in the Structures Lab, safety glasses and CSA footwear must be worn at all times. Depending on the work being conducted by you or those around you, additional safety equipment or PPE such as respirators, different types of gloves, hearing protection, and hardhats may be required.
Users of the Structures lab and its equipment will have to complete an onsite orientation, including the revision and sign-off of the policies in the Safety and Operating Protocols document.
To view and book the available equipment, please visit the Structure’s lab Qreserve webpage. You must also log your usage in the logbook near the equipment you use.
