Occupational Health and Safety is managed at different levels within the School of Engineering. Occupational Health and Safety is a legislated mandate in BC and Canada. Workers at the University of British Columbia fall under the jurisdiction of the Workers Compensation Act of BC. WorkSafeBC is mandated to ensure the Act and the associated Regulations are followed. This Section of the website provides information on the Act, Regulations, and supporting documentation.
UBC Policy SC1 outlines Occupational and Research Health and Safety. Please take time to read Policy SC1 as many aspects apply to your work. UBC has also published a structure of responsibility, Health and Safety Accountability, which clarifies responsibilities and roles within the organization.
